The Acquired Brain Injury Unit is a modern 10-bed unit with a variety of accommodation options reflecting the rehabilitation continuum from initial higher dependency to supported independent living. The unit has six single rooms with en-suites, a fully self-contained two-bedroom apartment and two independent single bed-sitter units. The Acquired Brain Injury unit has a defined garden and courtyard but is not secure. Again, the goal is to provide individualised care and rehabilitation programs to enable patients to move to community-based living.

The Acquired Brain Injury Unit provides extended care and rehabilitation services for adults between the ages 16-65. The unit caters for those who have suffered an acquired brain injury (ABI) who present primarily with a mental health disorder and associated behavioural  and  cognitive problems, whose needs cannot be met in a less restrictive environment.

Referral Procedure

The admission criteria, referral package, patient information brochures and all enquiries can be obtained by contacting the service.
