Overview

Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) is a specialised mental health service for children and young people (0 - 18 years) and their families. CYMHS offers assessment and therapeutic services for children and young people whom are experiencing psychiatric disorders or behavioural, emotional, and developmental problems affecting all areas of their daily lives.

Referral Procedure

Referrals can only be made by GP's, Paediatricians, Other Health Services, Senior Guidance Officers from the Department of Education and the Department of Child Safety. We accept self referral by adolecents.

How to make an appointment

The Intake Officer is available between 8:00am and 4:00pm Monday to Friday. CYMHS is closed on weekends and public holidays. Once a referral is received, the Intake Officer will  contact the referrer and family or young person by phone or letter to advise about the offer of an appoinment. Any person whom has concerns about a child or young person can contact the Intake Officer direct and they will discuss the problems and decide how or whether the team can assist.
