Early Psychosis Intervention services operate as a sub speciality program within the Acute Care Team (ACT) and aim to provide expert, timely and comprehensive assessment, treatment and support for young people with first presentation of psychosis.
Core interventions include initial assessment and treatment, intensive case management including engagement and psychological treatment for the young person and their family, such as individual and group education and support in addition to a range of needs based psycho-social interventions, including stress management and relapse prevention.
The service is delivered in partnership with Mental Illness Fellowship North Queensland who provides the Family Education and Support component of the program.
Services are provided by two Early Psychosis Intervention clinicians, medical staff and other multidisciplinary team members as required via the Acute Care Team.
Young people who reside within the catchment area of Townsville Adult Mental Health Service (AMHS) and are aged 16-25 who are:
