The Townsville Hospital Foundation is a non profit, charitable organisation which promotes the activities of health services and hospitals throughout the Townsville Health Service District. The Foundation assists in providing funding for extra health services, health technologies, and health equipment. The Foundation exists to identify, encourage and provide support for clinical research.
The Foundation was formed under the Hospitals Foundations Act 1982.
As a recognised charity any moneys raised by the Foundation through donations and support are tax deductible.
The Townsville Hospital Foundation has been supporting the Townsville Health District
since 1989 and is proud to “provide the extras that make a difference”. Broadly speaking, that means providing those things which are not basic to the provision of health care, but are of great importance in providing the best possible treatment, and facilities for local patients and families.

The Foundation is governed by membership of 10 honorary board members (including
chairperson).

The Foundation also has a workforce of 120 volunteers who provide assistance to patients, medical staff, family members and visitors to the Hospital.
