Staff Development Unit

Overview

The Staff Development Unit provides ongoing education and staff development opportunities for staff of the Townsville Health Service District to optimise patient care and to enhance personal and professional growth of employees. This is achieved through the provision of quality programs to meet the training and development needs of staff.

The unit acknowledges that in providing this service, the ACHS Equip standards on human resource management identify that appropriately trained and qualified personnel are a vital part of the organisation.

The unit aims to provide staff development that contributes to skill attainment, efficiency and effectiveness and includes all categories and classifications of staff. This involves identifying and responding to the continuing training and development needs and providing a variety of centralised and decentralised programs that respond to the organisational needs of the changing health care system and account for the personal and professional needs of staff.

Location

The Staff Development Unit is located on Level 1, Education Block, The Townsville Hospital.

The Robert Douglas Auditorium and Education Centre training rooms are located on the left hand side prior to the main entrance of the hospital in the Education Block.

Public parking is located across the road from the Education Block, with easy vehicle access for drop off and collection of delegates.
