
The centenary gardens were constructed as part of the Federation of Australia celebrations. It hosts a water feature and gazebo.
The purpose of the Federation Centenary Garden is to:
work in partnership with the community
commemorate Federation
celebrate the history and cultural diversity of North Queensland.
The garden will benefit the local community by:
enhancing the hospital grounds with a stunning landscape garden
providing a therapeutic area for use of patients, families and staff recognising local history
becoming united in planning a unique asset for local health
being part of a state wide Centenary of Federation celebrations
The unique design of the garden will incorporate:
public artwork reflective of our cultural heritage
plants that have a special place in the lives and memories of members of our community
It is envisaged that the project will be of such significance that it will be unparalleled from gardens in other hospital facilities throughout Australia.
