The intensive care unit at Townsville Hospital is a tertiary referral unit serving the northern and far northern regions of the state. The unit caters for both adult and paediatric patients with a varied and complex case mix which makes it a challenging unit in which to work.
We promote a positive learning environment , encouraging participation in the Queensland Health's transition to intensive care program and further study at tertiary level. As a brand new unit, the technology is modern and appropriate to meet the demands of a busy and dynamic facility. The ICU is situated in close proximity to the other critical care areas and to the operating theatres.
