About the Townsville Health Library
The Townsville Health Library is located on the first floor of The Townsville Hospital, overlooking the main entrance. The library supports continuing education for Queensland Health staff as well as for students of the adjacent James Cook University. All staff have 24-hour access to the library.
What Library services are offered?
- Expert assistance with reference and database searching in support of evidence- based practice
- Clinicians Knowledge Network (CKN): online resources such as Medline, Embase, CINAHL and Rehabilitation Reference Center & e-journals
- Training in how to use CKN resources and a range of research software programs
- Online library catalogue HealthCat
- Current awareness services
- Interlibrary loans for patient care & research
- Nine computers available with internet access (Novell login and password required)
- Book loans: 10 books for three weeks; after hours return facilities
- Colour (charges apply) and black & white photocopying
- Purchase of discounted books for the library and departments throughout the district
- DVD player with headphones
Who can use the Library?
The library serves all Queensland Health staff in the Townsville region. In addition, the library is open to staff and students (third year onwards) of James Cook University, under a service agreement.
Associate membership is available to other health professionals.
