The Townsville Health Library occupies spacious new premises overlooking the main entrance to The Townsville Hospital. The Library supports continuing education for Queensland Health staff as well as students of the adjacent James Cook University. All staff have 24 hour access to the Library.
What Library services are offered?

access and training in CKN resources eg. Clinical Evidence, Medline, CINAHL, PsycINFO, MDConsult, Cochrane and other databases and Drug information

emailed current awareness service on a range of topics

Internet access (Novell login and password required)

new journals display

loans: 5 books for 3 weeks; after hours return facilities

interlibrary loans for patient care

colour and black & white photocopying (cards may be purchased for private copying)

journal subscription purchase and management service

purchase of books (at a good discount) for the Library and Departments throughout the District

computers for word processing (MS Office); software reference manuals & tutorial packages available for loan; floppy disks may be purchased

video and DVD players with headphones
Who can use the Library?
The Library serves all employees of the Townsville Health Service District. In addition, the Library serves staff and students (3rd year onwards) of James Cook University.
Associate membership is available to other health professionals on request.
