Volunteers

The Townsville Hospital Foundation has an extensive volunteer service to support patients, visitors and staff of The Townsville Hospital. Volunteers undertake a range of duties including:
  • The coordination of the Information Desk
  • A patient and visitor guiding service
  • Various administration and reception support roles, and
  • Assisting nursing staff in various department tasks.

The Volunteers’ program has now been in place for ten years, and is designed to augment the already excellent care given to patients. The large band of volunteers, both men and women, play a vital role in every department of the hospital.

Volunteers Desk

Their role is to give support in large quantities to both inpatients and outpatients, their relatives and visitors, and also to the busy hospital staff.

The volunteers find the experience of working in the hospital environment extremely rewarding, and the patients and staff are fulsome in their praise and appreciation of this dedicated group.

Volunteers are located in the Front Foyer, the Oncology Department, and also help out from time to time in other areas of the hospital.

Volunteers work to complement the role of hospital staff and aim to make a visit to The Townsville Hospital as easy and comfortable as possible for all involved.
