Information for Consumers, Carers and Families
Quality family and carer involvement in mental health care is helpful to everyone. However, family and carers have often felt or been excluded from involvement in mental health care. This project is about increasing the amount and quality of family and carer involvement in mental health care.
The Townsville mental health community has come together to develop protocols for the role of families in planning and delivering mental health care. The result is the practice standards which are prominently displayed at Cambridge Street and the Acute Inpatient Unit and have been e-mailed to all staff in the district. These outline the minimum standard that families, carers, consumers and health professionals can expect in relation to information sharing and family / carer participation in care.
