Mental Health - Quality Improvement

Overview

Within the Institute of Mental Health Services (IMHS), quality improvement has been imbedded into every employee’s job description and is seen to be an integral part of everyday practice, rather than a separate duty.

The IMHS employs a Quality Improvement Co-ordinator who co-ordinates individual quality improvement activities throughout the institute. The Quality Improvement Co-ordinator provides advice and guidance regarding the quality cycle and quality measurement tools in order to ensure completion of activities with measurable demonstrable outcomes.

The IMHS strives towards meeting the National Standards for Mental Health Services and undertakes self-assessment against the standards bi-annually. The Townsville Hospital is accredited against the Equip Standards and the National Standards for Mental Health Services are translated into the Equip standards by the Quality Improvement Co-ordinator IMHS.

Policies and Procedures guide every day practice within the Institute of Mental Health Services. Policies and Procedures can be obtained by contacting the Mental Health Service on 4796 3000.
