All surgical, medical or maternity patients presenting for admission to the Townsville Hospital should now present to the patient admissions area located in the front foyer at the main entrance to the hospital , before proceeding to the relevant departments.
Patients for the Hyperbaric, Renal or Oncology Unit are still to present to the relevant unit for admission but if anyone is unsure we ask that they see the staff at the front admissions area first.
The Townsville Hospital patients should pack the following items for hospital: admission advice, completed admission form, Night attire (You may bring your own or use a gown provided by the Hospital. We advise you to label your belongings with your name.) Dressing gown and slippers, toiletries, a small amount of money for person needs, including taxi fare home if necessary, Medicine and tablets, x-rays, Medicare card, pension card, health care card, name and contact number for next of kin.
We also encourage mothers to dress in casual clothes during their stay with us.
If planning to artificially feed your baby, please bring a tin of formula of your choice and at least two (2) bottles and two (2) teats.
You have a bedside locker for your personal belongings, however we strongly recommend that you do not bring any valuables to hospital, especially money (except for a small amount of change with which to purchase newspapers, toiletries, taxi fare upon discharge).
While you can be assured that our staff will take every care, the Hospital cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to any property you keep at your bedside.
