Palliative Care

Overview

The Palliative Care Service (PCS) is a part of the North Queensland Oncology Service and is the regional palliative care centre. We support the care of dying people regardless of their medical condition. We provide inpatient care with beds on the oncology ward and consultative service to The Townsville Hospital. We are happy to discuss management problems at any time. We also work closely with GPs in the community, provide support and advice to patients, families and health workers in Townsville and surrounding districts, and fund domiciliary support to help patients remain at home. The PCS provides psychosocial support and volunteers in all places of care and runs an extensive education programme.
