The Diabetes Centre provides an important health service to all diabetic people and their families by promoting strategies associated with prevention, detection, treatment and management of the condition. The Centre aims to improve the health and well-being of all people with Diabetes Mellitus.
The Diabetes Centre offers a clinical service that includes health promotion, information, counselling, school visitation and support and education to all people affected by Diabetes Mellitus. Other services include specialised clinics and inpatient treatment.
Every year over 60,000 people are diagnosed with Diabetes. Another 60,000 could develop diabetes but don't know it.

The diabetes team includes a specialist Doctor, Diabetes Educator and a Diabetes Dietician. Other professionals involved in Diabetes care may include a Social Worker, a Psychologist, Podiatrist, Ophthalmologist or hospital ward Nursing staff.
