The Rehabilitation & Gerontology Service offers a district-wide service including 18 inpatient rehabilitation beds (inclusive of a Living Skills Unit), a Day Rehabilitation Service and the Northern Zonal Spinal Cord Injury Team.
We provide Gerontology Services to the hospitalw ards through the high Risk Elder and Falls and Factures Teams.
Patients with a diagnosis of stroke, falls and balance, spinal cord injury, amputees and/or the elderly are able to be referred. Access to our service is via a General Practitioner/Treating Doctor referral.

Referrals must be named referrals to the Service Consultants.
Written referrals can be faxed or posted. Phone referrals must be followed up with a written referral.
Referrals can be made by General Practitioners or consulting teams for Hospital referrals. Full clinical history and information needs to be provided by the referring source for the patient to be seen in an Outpatient Clinic. Ward consultations may result in access to rehabilitation services via the Day Rehabilitation Service or transfer to the Rehabilitation Ward.
Once the referral has been received an appointment will be made at the earliest convenience. The aim of the Service is not to run a waiting list.
