BCG Vaccination for Tuberculosis

Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection which mostly affects the respiratory system. The vaccination reduces the risk of infection to those who live in high risk populations. Your doctor/ midwife will give you more information and discuss this with you, if your baby is eligible for this vaccination. Your baby needs to weigh over 2500 grams and be well if vaccinations are to be given.

The vaccination is free and can be given in the Maternity Ward or at the Respiratory Unit, the Townsville Hospital from 9am to 12 pm Monday and Thursday. Phone 4796 2869.
