In the past, new mums spent 5-7 days in hospital-our grandmothers even longer. This was considered 'normal' at the time. This is no longer the case.
The Midwifery Care Program (MCP) has made it possible for the 'normal' to be changed. Over the past ten years, many new mothers have discovered the positive benefits of settling into home as soon as possible following the birth of their baby.
The Midwifery Care Program bridges the gap between hospital and home, allowing new mothers the comfort of their own home with the security of professional support.
You can go home from 6-72 hours after the birth of your baby, as long as you and your baby are well, and have a Midwife visit you at home each day until your baby is 5-7 days old.
Just think of it….your bed, your food, your own bathroom!
The earlier the new baby is introduced into the family, the easier for brothers and sisters to adjust and less separation for mum and the family.
Only your baby disturbing your sleep
One-to-one with the Midwife in your own home
Where possible you will see the same Midwife for each visit
Education and help with feeding and parent crafting to meet your needs
We will do the same check for mum and baby as the Midwives would do in hospital, including weighing and the 'heel prick' test.
The Midwifery Care Program serves an area from Bluewater to Alligator Creek, from Kelso to Oak Valley.
