Queensland Health Coding Committee Site Updates

The Queensland Coding Committee is a statewide forum for the resolution of queries related to Australian coding standards, clinical coding, edits and grouping. The QCC is also a forum where other related health information issues can be discussed such as coding audits and associated tools, education for clinical coders and casemix education. The committee meets monthly to discuss issues and provides information, advice and direction to clinical coders, health information managers and other health professionals in the public and private health sectors within Queensland.

Health Contact Centre Site Updates

One of the Emergency Departments election commitments made during the 2004 State election was the establishment of a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week, statewide health hotline to provide easy access to health information, referral and triage services. This new health service is to be based in Queensland, staffed by clinicians using clinical proven protocols and be operational by December 2005.

Skills Development Centre Site Updates

Queensland Health Skills Development Centre is one of most technologically advanced and comprehensive of 300 skills development centres worldwide. Opened jointly on 23 September 2004 by the Premier of Queensland, the Hon.Peter Beattie and the Queensland Minister for Health, Hon.Gordon Nuttall, it is the only one of seven in Oceania to have a complete suite of virtual reality and simulation training equipment. It covers over 3000sqm, with 26 session rooms, laboratories, and even a fully-functional operating theatre and hospital ward.
