Chermside is a major regional centre situated on the north side of Brisbane. It is located about 10 kilometres from Brisbane’s CBD on Gympie Road, the main thoroughfare which, heading north, converts into the Bruce Highway. Housing in Chermside is a mixture of traditional chamferboard houses, newer homes and modern units and townhouses with families constituting half of the suburb’s residents. Chermside Westfield Shoppingtown is Queensland’s largest shopping centre and includes most major retail chains, specialty stores, eateries, cinemas and supermarkets.
