Jandowae is a small country town located on the fertile western downs region of Queensland. It is the principal town of the Wambo Shire, one of Queensland’s largest wheat-growing areas. Jandowae, with its rich alluvial soil, produces barley, sorghum, oast, millet, panicum, sunflower, safflower and linseed. Other industries include timber, dairy, cattle and a burgeoning native flower industry. Settled in the 1860s, Jandowae’s history is epitomized by “Jimbour House”, a grand two-storeyed sandstone and cedar homestead listed with the National Trust.
