Warwick is a small rural city located on the Darling Downs in south east Queensland. Known as the “Rose and Rodeo City”, Warwick is the administrative and commercial centre for the Warwick Shire, a prosperous agricultural and pastoral region producing wool, grain, vegetables, dairy products and cattle. It is a historical town with wide tree-lined streets and impressive sandstone buildings. Established in 1849, it was the first town in Queensland, after Brisbane, its rich and fertile soil attracting many settlers and farmers. By 1871, the railway had arrived from Ipswich, creating another population explosion and resulting in the construction of a brewery, a flour mill and a brick works. Today it is the second largest city on the Darling Downs and offers a progressive country lifestyle with modern facilities and amenities.
