Assessment and Training Program (for operational stream staff)

The Assessment and Training Program for operational stream staff is offered in response to Section 8.2 of the Queensland Public Health Sector Certified Agreement No. 5 (2002).  To provide core operational staff with appropriate training, it was agreed to implement nationally recognised qualifications from the Health Training Package (HLT02) – Certificate II in Health Support Services - with competencies specifically relevant to the specialist areas of cleaning, client/patient, food, laundry, and grounds maintenance.

The target group is staff from the OO2 classification levels.  Approved staff are entitled to have the qualification funded by Queensland Health. 

The aim of the program is to give eligible OO2 staff in specific work roles the opportunity to have their existing skills, knowledge and ability recognised while identifying future learning needs.  The program is delivered in partnership with the Open Learning Institute of TAFE (OLI).
