Mental Health Professional Development Program

The Professional Development Program for Mental Health is made up of three qualifications:

All three qualifications are delivered by distance education and accessed electronically through the QH Intranet.  No lecture or residential school is required.

Each of the qualifications are designed to be undertaken individually and to develop expertise to work in Queensland Health Mental Health Services.  You can begin with the Certificate IV in Mental Health and step your way through the professional development program completing it with a Graduate Diploma in Mental Health.

The Certificate IV in Mental Health has been developed by Queensland Health in partnership with the Open Institute of Learning (OLI).  It is open to all streams and classifications of mental health staff in Queensland Health.

The Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma in Mental Health have been developed by Queensland Health in partnership with Queensland University of Technology (QUT).  These qualifications are open to experienced mental health staff including health professionals with an undergraduate qualification, a post graduate qualification, registered nurses or any other mental health employee wanting to develop advanced mental health skills.
