Appointment of HCL Representatives

To appoint HCL Representatives

This guideline describes the requirements for appointing HCL Representatives in a GP Practice or Pharmacy.

There are two roles associated with establishing a HealthCare Location and applying for HIC/HeSA Keys and Certificates. A decision should be made within the Practice or Pharmacy about the most suitable people to act in the HCL roles.

The following table provides examples of the types of people that may be involved in the roles according to the type of practice or pharmacy.

Email address

It is essential that an email address is established for the GP Practice or Pharmacy. The email address forms part of the Certificate Policy (CP) details and is associated with the Practice or Pharmacy within the HIC Location Keys and Certificates.
