This guideline details the computer hardware and software you need to use the S8 Online service.
S8 Online is a web based application designed to operate with minimal installation and configuration. However there are some files and settings that your PC requires to use S8 Online. Some of these may already be available on your computer, others may need to be installed by downloading the application from the relevant site, or by installing from this Information CD.
For reasonable operation of S8 Online, the following computer hardware and operating system specifications are recommended as the minimum.
The files that you require to access Schedule 8 Online are determined by the operating system running on the computer you will be using. Please select the operating system applicable to your PC:

Note: Running UNIX, Linux, or a Mac OS? Sorry, S8 Online is not currently supported on these operating systems.
Disclaimer: It is possible that some Pharmacies may have computer policies in place that lockdown PC's and do not allow installation of Java files or other configuration requirements. Queensland Health is not able to assist with any problems relating to these situations or policies. Similarly, if you have any concerns about installing operating system upgrades, browsers, or java files, you should consult an IT expert. Queensland Health does not provide warranty or support for any procedures undertaken as part of connecting to S8 Online.
To use S8 Online you must be able to connect to the Internet. You will need an Internet Service Provider (ISP) with either a broadband or dial-up modem connection. The computer workstation being used for S8 Online requires a cable modem or dial-up-networking connection to be configured and functional.
Your web browser must be able to use 128 bit SSL encryption. Internet Explorer 6 (SP1) or later is recommended. For further information and links to upgrades, select from the relevant operating system list above.
When you are confident that your PC meets requirements, you can Access S8 Online for the first time.
