Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Branch
Information and resources for health professionals
The provision of culturally capable healthcare in Queensland Health is guided by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Capability Framework 2010-2033. This is a critical element in closing the health gaps that exist between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders and other Queenslanders.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Patient care guideline provides general advice to support healthcare staff in delivering safe, clinically and culturally responsive care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients.
Other guidelines developed by the Queensland Health Cultural Capability Team include:
- Adolescent sexual health
- Communicating effectively
- Flying flags
- Identification
- Indigenous status
- Sad News, Sorry Business
- Terminology
Additional resources for health professionals working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and consumers are provided by topic.
