About our Outpatient Services, Caboolture Hospital

The Specialist Outpatient Department (SOPD) offers patients access to a wide variety of specialist medical and surgical services conducted by the staff of the hospital.  An SOPD Patient Fact Sheet Patient Fact Sheet has been developed to provide patients with relevant information about SOPD.  At Caboolture there is a strong focus on team work, with Medical, Nursing and Administrative staff working in collaboration to provide the best service and outcome for our patients.


Specialist Outpatient Clinics are located on the ground floor of Caboolture Hospital.  Services currently provided in the Specialist Clinics include General Surgery, General Medicine, Gastroenterology, Gynaecology (including Colposcopy, Pelvic Health and Urodynamic studies), Cardiology, Heart Failure, Respiratory, Rheumatology, Paediatrics and Palliative Care.

The department offers both public and bulk-billing Specialist services.  All bulk-billing services are provided at no out-of-pocket expense to the patient.

Information for patients

Following receipt of the referral, a letter will be sent to both the patient and the referring Doctor acknowledging the request for an appointment to see a Specialist.

All correspondence to the patient, from Caboolture Hospital, must be acknowledged as directed in the letter, to ensure placement on the waiting list.  Failure to follow the instructions could result in the loss of an offer of appointment and removal from the waiting list.  Patients must bring their appointment letter, Medicare Card and Pension Card as well as any relevant tests, scans or x-rays to every appointment.

Upon arrival, please present to the front reception counter to advise the administrative staff of your arrival.

At the end of your consultation you will be directed back to the front reception area to confirm your details and to book additional follow up appointments as necessary.
