Salary sacrificing in Queensland Health

Salary sacrificing or salary packaging is an arrangement which allows you to deduct some of your pre-tax salary and use it to pay for benefits such as rent or mortgage repayments, insurances, motor vehicle operating expenses, travel expenses and more.

By reducing your pre-tax income, you reduce the amount of income tax that you pay, and therefore increase the amount of pay that you take home each fortnight.

Your own personal circumstances will determine whether you can benefit from salary sacrificing. It is always advisable to review your situation with a financial adviser.

You are eligible to participate in salary sacrifice arrangements if your employment is:

  • permanent full- or part-time
  • temporary full- or part-time
  • long-term casual

Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs) may salary sacrifice under a separate arrangement. RemServ provides salary sacrificing services to Queensland Health employees, and is Queensland’s largest salary sacrificing company.

For more information on salary sacrificing contact RemServ on 1300 30 40 10 or visit the RemServ website.
