Occupational Therapists (OT’s) at Cairns Hospital assist patients who are affected by acute illness or injury. Occupational Therapists aim to: reduce the impact of illness, promote return to independence, assist patients in the transition from hospital to community and promote quality of life.

Occupational Therapists at the Cairns Hospital work within a multidisciplinary team consisting of Dietetics, Speech Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work, Psychology and Pharmacy. This team works closely with medical officers, nursing and other support staff throughout all areas of the hospital.
