Community consultation committees

The committees are accountable to our board. They report through our Community Advisory Group who are the conduit between our community and our board.

There are 4 community consultation committees in the health service.

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health
  • Cassowary Coast Hub
  • Hinterland Hub
  • Trinity Hub

Management Committees

Management committees are operational across the CHHHS and occur at the facility and service level.

The consumer advisor position brings the consumer / patient perspective to the decision makers and can influence change positively.

Consumer Reference Group

Consumer Reference Group is a group of consumers that would meet to provide input into a particularly service for example Maternity services.

What to expect if you're appointed

Our committees usually meet quarterly and are guided by a terms of reference.

If you’re appointed to a committee, you’ll be paid for attending meetings. You’ll also be encouraged to go to other committee meetings to share information.

In particular, our committees:

  • consult community members about their experience of health care services provided
  • collate all of the information gathered from community members
  • inform the Health Service on community members' perspectives about their experience of health care services provided
  • work together with staff to implement changes.
