Cairns Hospital offers positions to newly graduated physiotherapists, and aims to facilitate the development of physiotherapy experience and clinical skills in a wide range of areas.
New graduates have the opportunity to work closely with senior clinicians, to allow for ongoing learning and development in a supportive and friendly environment. CH physiotherapists have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of patient conditions and patient populations from throughout Far North Queensland and the Torres Strait.
As a new graduate you can expect to undertake four month rotations in some of the following areas:
- Medical wards - Respiratory/Renal, General Medicine, Cardiology, CCU
- Intensive Care Unit/Surgical Unit
- Orthopaedics/Pre admission clinic/Day Surgery
- Older Persons Unit ( OPERA)
New Graduate positions are advertised through Queensland Health towards the end of each year, with interviews occurring in October through the Centralised New Graduate Recruitment Process.
Cairns Hospital accepts physiotherapy undergraduate students undertaking clinical placements. Cairns Hospital has dedicated clinical educator positions as well as senior clinical staff, providing clinical education and supervision to physiotherapy students.
Cairns Hospital may accept post graduate student placements, as negotiated – with advanced physiotherapists on site, experienced with Masters student placement supervision.
