Cairns Hospital offers educational opportunities for Speech Pathology students in the tropical climate of North Queensland.
Before students can begin placement, Queensland Health requires that the Student Orientation Package is read and the Student Orientation Checklist completed. Find further information about clinical placements here.
Cairns Hospital offers job opportunities for first year graduate speech pathologists. Support, mentoring, and supervision are provided for all new graduates.
New graduate study sessions (coordinated by the Clinical Education Support Officer), provides a learning context to further develop clinical skills and knowledge. Informal support from both senior clinicians and other new graduate clinicians is ongoing.
New graduates participate in 6 monthly rotations in service areas such as:
- Acute care
- Older persons service
New Graduate positions are advertised through Queensland Health towards the end of each year, with interviews occurring in October through the Centralised New Graduate Recruitment Process.
