Public healthcare access for people seeking asylum who do not have a Medicare Card
People seeking asylum in Australia who are not eligible for a Medicare Card can access public hospitals in Queensland free of charge. Please refer to Queensland Health Fees for Health Care Services Health Directive: Fees and Charges for Health Care Services Health Service Directive (QH-HSD-045:2016) .

Entering Queensland for essential health care
In response to recent changes to the Border Restrictions in Queensland there have been some changes to entering Queensland for essential health care.
A factsheet has been developed which provides an understanding of the definition of essential health care and provides information regarding the quarantine requirements for patients and their carers. This is attached for your information.

Chief Health Officer public health directions
During a public health emergency, the Chief Health Officer can issue Public Health Directions to assist in containing, or to respond to, the spread of COVID-19 within the community.

Testing and Fever Clinics
Central West Hospital and Health Service is conducting COVID-19 (coronavirus) screening at a range of locations.
These clinics are for people who have one or more of the following symptoms:
- Fever
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Fatigue
- Runny nose
- Shortness of breath
- Loss of smell
- Loss of taste
- Diarrhoea
- Vomiting or nausea
