The following statement may be attributed to Central West Hospital and Health Board Chair Ms Jane Williams.
It is with sombre spirits I announce that Central West Hospital and Health Service Acting Chief Executive Chris Sullivan will be leaving our health service on 30 September.
Mr Sullivan has accepted an exciting new appointment with the Queensland Investment Corporation, where he will be heading up their health infrastructure fund.
This is a significant appointment and a testament to Mr Sullivan’s skills and abilities. Mr Sullivan has been Acting Chief Executive since mid-March, prior to which he was Central West Health’s Executive Director of Finance, Infrastructure and Support Services.
He joined Central West Health in December 2020 from Mater Health Services, where he held an executive management position.
Over the past 20 months, Mr Sullivan has worked with a strong focus on responsible financial stewardship and staff engagement initiatives to support the delivery of quality, safe health care during what has been an immensely challenging environment.
He has strengthened partnerships with all who interact with our health service and successfully advocated on behalf of our communities for a range of improvements which will benefit our health service into the future.
I am sure the Central West community will join the Board and I in congratulating him on his new appointment in Brisbane and wishing him and his family all the very best for the future.
On Mr Sullivan’s departure, our General Manager Primary Health Care, Anthony West, will take over the role of Acting Chief Executive while we recruit for a permanent replacement.
Mr West previously acted as Chief Executive from November last year to March this year when Mr Sullivan took over.
Mr West has been with Central West Health for the past four years and is very familiar with our health service and our challenges.
He has been closely involved in all our preparations for managing the current COVID–19 pandemic within our region, as well as the rollout of our highly successful vaccination program.
He will be able to provide strong continuity of leadership for our health service and our communities and I welcome him back to the position of Acting Chief Executive.
