State-Wide Arbovirus Response and Mosquito Management System (SWARMMS)

The Queensland Health Communicable Diseases Branch, in partnership with Local Government and Public Health Units, has established a state-wide surveillance and control ICT solution to support the management of mosquitoes that pose public health risks to Queensland residents. The new system is the State-Wide Arbovirus Response and Mosquito Management System (SWARMMS).

SWARMMS is a cloud-based interactive system with the capability to upload and store mosquito surveillance and control data and provide spatial mapping. It can produce real-time reports to inform critical decision making to enhance the response to outbreaks of mosquito-borne diseases and the detection of exotic mosquitoes.

SWARMMS will support mosquito surveillance and control activity by both Queensland Health and Local Government, and provide a shared platform for collaborative mosquito management

Online training

Training modules have been developed by RapidMap Global Pty Ltd, the supplier of SWARMMS, which demonstrate the three ways to access SWARMMS. These training modules are currently accessible to all users via an online training platform and can be completed at the preferred pace of the user, and at a time that is convenient for them.

Watch the short video below to learn more about SWARMMS, and how it can support mosquito management.

Meet Joey, she is a Vector Control Field Officer

2

Meet Vincent, he is Joey’s Colleague and a Vector Control Manager

3

And like you Joey and Vincent collect and analyse a lot of data to manage mosquito control activities and public health responses to disease outbreaks and vector incursions.

4

Sometimes, they get really frustrated because:

5

  1. Paper-based data collection is cumbersome
  2. Data visualisation is not real-time
  3. Scheduling and reminders are manual
  4. Data security is uncertain
  5. Data reporting is inefficient

6

Oh No!
That was before…

SWARMMS

PROVIDES:

  • Direct data entrywhile   working in the field
  • Real-time datavisualisation   in the field and office
  • Spatial reportingfeatures   for easily-generated maps and reports

9

  • Scheduling tools to track   team activities
  • Secure data in a   collaborative environment
  • Online and offline options   for data collection

10

So, Joey and Vincent get started right away!

11

Joey uses SWARMMS in the field

12

And collects information using the smart forms

13

Information is available real-time

14

Which can be accessed simultaneously in the field and the office

15

Auto-filled forms speed-up data collection and minimise errors

16

Field work can be scheduled automatically or manually

17

Vincent generates reports in SWARMMS using data collected by Joey and her team

18

All these features ensure...

19

  • Efficient data collection
