This form should be completed by the parent/guardian of the boarding student wishing to use the class exemption to return to Queensland.
To enable boarding school families to reunite while there are border restrictions, a class exemption enables boarding school students to enter and leave Queensland during this upcoming school holidays:
The class exemption has been implemented in recognition of the importance of children attending boarding schools being able to spend time with their families.
Key features and requirements of the class exemption:
- The class exemption applies until 10 October 2021, unless it is amended or revoked.
- All boarding school students returning Queensland from a designated COVID-19 hotspot will need to quarantine upon entry to Queensland for 14 days, along with all of their household contacts at the place they will quarantine.
- There are specific requirements for quarantine depending on whether the quarantine location is a freestanding private residence, a boarding school or hotel quarantine.
- Students and accompanying adults travelling into Queensland from regional New South Wales may enter by road.
- Students and accompanying adults arriving in Queensland from Greater Sydney, Victoria or the Australian Capital Territory must enter Queensland by air.
- A student under the age of 18 arriving in Queensland by air unaccompanied will be required to be met by a parent/guardian at the arriving Airport.
- Queensland Health is always willing to work with families on individual situations. Families can apply for an individual exemption in relation to any specific situations not covered by the class exemption.
- All boarding school families need to ensure they can make the necessary arrangements to maintain quarantine for the 14 days. Quarantine breaches may result in the class exemption being revoked.
We are asking students and their families to complete the form below to provide information about entry dates and quarantine location before they enter Queensland.
Completing the form will assist police or other emergency officers to issue a quarantine direction to all members of the household who will be quarantining together. It will also help ensure available capacity for students who elect to quarantine in a government-arranged hotel.
Further information is available in the class exemption, and in these Questions and Answers.
