SPEAKERS

Associate Professor Meera Agar is Director of Palliative Care, Braeside Hospital, Hammondcare (Sydney); Senior Lecturer, Discipline of Palliative and Supportive Services, Flinders University and Clinical Trials Director, Ingham Institute of Applied Medical Research, Sydney. Her research interests include delirium in palliative care, palliative care for those living with advanced dementia and health services research.

Professor Elizabeth Beattie is Director of the Dementia Collaborative Research Centre – Carers and Comsumers at Queensland University of Technology. Her primary research interests lie in the area of prevention of negative functional outcomes of behavioural issues in dementia, and she is currently contributing to the development of robust interventions to improve the quality of life of people with dementia and those who care for them.

Dr Kelly Purser is a member of the Health Law Research Centre at Queensland University of Technology. Her doctoral studies examined capacity assessment in the context of advance health directives, powers of attorney, and wills. Her doctoral research also included an empirical component exploring the relationship between legal and medical professionals when assessing capacity.

Dr Anthony Herbert is Staff Specialist in paediatric palliative care at the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) in Brisbane. He has been consulting in palliative care at RCH and Mater Children’s Hospital since 2008. He trained at the Children’s Hospital Westmead, and has a particular interest in telehealth.
