Gemfields doctor coverage increased
18 June 2019
CQ Health has increased the number of doctor clinic days at the Gemfields Primary Health Clinic to help meet increasing demand for the service.
Executive Director Rural and District-wide Services Robert Forsythe said from early July 2019 the doctor would be available at the clinic on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, with a nurse available from Monday to Friday.
“In January this year we doubled the doctor visit days to two a week, but after the private GP withdrew his service to the Gemfields the clinic sessions were heavily booked and so an extra day has been secured,” he said.
“Dr Brendan Hill and the nursing team led by Leonie Findlay do a fantastic job at the Gemfields and we’re delighted to be able to expand the service,” Mr Forsythe said. “It is CQ Health’s aim to provide as many safe and sustainable services as close to home
as possible for our communities.”
