Information session for potential Gladstone Hospital contractors
22 May 2018
Businesses in the Gladstone region are invited to an information session to learn about local opportunities in the new Gladstone Hospital Emergency Department project.
Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service Executive Director Gladstone-Banana Jo Glover said the information session would be held at the Gladstone Entertainment Centre from 2pm to 4pm on Wednesday, 6 June.
“We are committed to supporting local businesses and contractors wherever possible and it’s important our local contractors are aware of opportunities for work and how to pursue them,” Ms Glover said.
Early works for the project is under way. This includes construction of a106-space car park to replace an existing car park that will be demolished to make way for the new ED.
Tenders will be called later in the year for the main contractor who will build the new Emergency Department. Main construction of the new facility is expected to be under way by the end of 2018.
The project was announced by Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk in February 2016.
Member for Gladstone Glenn Butcher said the new ED was part of the Palaszczuk Government’s $180 million Enhancing Regional Hospitals program and was being built to meet the needs of the region and its people and to reflect the latest advances in healthcare and technology.
“As a government, we are committed to making Queenslanders among the healthiest people in the world by 2026 and this means improving access to quality and safe healthcare in all its different forms and settings, including in regional areas such as Central Queensland,’’ Mr Butcher said.
“This major investment will be a huge boost for the Gladstone community as well as the region as a whole,’’ he said.
