Hospital announces carpark fees

15 November 2018

Rockhampton Hospital carparking fees have been set for the multi-storey car park, due to open in early 2019.

Executive Director Rockhampton Hospital Wendy Hoey said the fees were designed to be as fair and reasonable as possible, with concessions available for regular visitors and staff.

“This new car park is a facility the community has been crying out for some time, and we have been upfront from the start of the project that there would be a fee involved to help recover the construction cost,” she said.

The cost will be $2 an hour to a maximum of $10 a day for members of the community, with concessions available for regular patients/carers or those with extenuating circumstances. Staff will pay $4 a day.

Concessions will be available to those with a pension card, a senior’s health card, or a health care card. There will be long- and short-term concessions, as well as a special concession for those under financial hardship or other extenuating circumstances.

“The fees will not make a profit, they will help to meet the cost of the loan made to pay for construction.”

Ms Hoey said the 597-space car park almost tripled the number of spaces available at Rockhampton Hospital.

“We expect construction will be complete in January 2019, and the car park will be operational soon after that.”
