Community committees and groups

We have many consumer groups, networks and committees that help shape health outcomes for Central Queenslanders.

Our committees report to our executive team through our Consumer and Community Advisory Committee.

Who are the committee members?

Our committee members are passionate about the quality and safety of community health care and include:

  • previous patients
  • carers
  • general public
  • community members
  • local government representatives
  • health service staff.

How to join our committees

Most of our committees have a formal recruitment and selection process every 2 years.

This is reviewed after one year or when there’s a vacancy. We’ll call for expressions of interest by advertising in media, social media, and using other networks.

You must live in the Central Queensland region to apply.

If you would like to receive our newsletter or would like more information, email CQHealthConsumerNetwork@health.qld.gov.au.

What to expect if you're appointed

Our committees usually meet monthly or quarterly and are guided by a term of reference.

If you’re appointed to a committee, you’ll be paid for attending meetings. You’ll also be encouraged to go to other committee meetings to share information.

Our committees:

  • provide a consumer or carer perspective on health care services
  • consult community members about their experiences and share information with the health service
  • work with the health service to implement changes.

Consumer and Community Engagement Strategy

We're committed to providing meaningful opportunities for patients, carers and consumers to have a say on health care services.
