Travel and accommodation

Sometimes the investigations or treatments needed cannot be done in Central Queensland.  Plans will be made to transfer care to a tertiary centre – usually in Brisbane.

The Cancer Care Coordinator serves as a link between different areas to assist with all parts of the patients’ journey while they are under the care of Cancer Care Services. The Cancer Care Coordinator will work with patients and their support people for -

  • Travel coordination
  • Accommodation venues
  • Liaison with patients going to and returning from Brisbane

Travel and accommodation assistance is provided through the Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme (PTSS).

Airport Parking

Occasionally, our patients are required to visit other hospitals for investigations or treatments.  Those people who are travelling by air may need to park their car at the airport.  They will be eligible for free airport parking.
