Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit

We care for people over the age of 18 years who require inpatient care for treatment of mental health issues. The inpatient unit is located on the Rockhampton Hospital campus and has 23 beds including 4 High Dependency Unit beds.

Our services

Our services include:

  • planning your care, treatment and recovery
  • support and assisting in achieving daily goals and recognising strengths
  • Ongoing treatment after you leave hospital
  • Support and assistance for you and your support person.

Treatment team

A Treatment Team in hospital may include medical staff, nurses, social workers, pharmacists and occupational therapists.

We encourage a support person to meet the treatment team and to be a part of the treatment and recovery planning. If a consumer has requested their support person not be involved, this can be discussed with the nurse or doctor.

How to access this service

Admission to the inpatient service is arranged following an assessment by a mental health clinician and doctor. This can be at the Emergency Department or from our Acute Care Team or Community Mental Health Teams.
