Step Up Step Down
The Step Up Step Down service is a short-term sub-acute residential service (up to 28 days) with recovery focused mental health support to help you transition out of hospital, or to avoid a hospital admission.
This residential service is for people from Central Queensland who are experiencing severe mental health issues that make being at home difficult.
It is for people who need a place with clinical support, but also the time out to work on their recovery and put in place some plans for living safely in the community.
The Step Up Step Down service is a partnership between Mind and CQ Health.
What does this service provide?
The step up, step down service is located in Gladstone and has 10 single rooms.
The rooms are connected to a living area and communal kitchen. All you need to bring are your personal items.
There is also an outdoor community area with a BBQ. Staying here is voluntary and there is no charge for accommodation or meals.
How will I be supported?
Staying at the Central Queensland Step Up, Step Down residential service gives you a safe, supported place to recover. There is a mixture of structured activity and individual 1:1 support time. Family and friends are welcome to visit and become involved in your recovery planning.
You will have access to 24-hour support with a staff team that includes:
- mental health clinician
- community mental health practitioners
- peer support worker
