If your PTSS application was approved, you can organise and pay for your own travel, then make a claim for reimbursement of the eligible subsidy amount. Or, your travel office can organise and pay for your travel for you.
Return travel (medical procedures)
For patients undergoing medical procedures, medical clearances may be required before you can travel home. Your return travel will not be booked until you’ve been given clearance to travel.
Every effort will be made to book your return travel on the date you are discharged, but this may not always be possible. In case an unexpected stay is required, patients and escorts should take appropriate clothing, medications, travel documents (eg. Certification Form) and personal affects.
Changes to travel bookings
If you need to change your travel arrangements because you are unable to travel for medical reasons, or your appointment has changed, contact your local travel office at least 24 hours before travel (or as early as possible).
If local travel office is closed, your local hospital can help. Contact your local hospital and let them know you need assistance with after-hours patient travel bookings.
If you need to change your travel arrangements for personal reasons, you are responsible for arranging the changes and paying any fees associated with the change.
