Course outline

This course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to safely administer vaccines as an authorised immunisation provider.

This course is accredited by Health Education Services Australia (HESA).

The course covers 4 learning areas:

  • immunisation and public health
  • legislative and professional practice
  • immunisation and the immune system
  • application of vaccination processes.

Careers and outcomes

You will be awarded a Certificate of Completion and 130 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours upon successful completion of the course.

This course meets the requirements of the National Immunisation Education Framework for Health Professionals. You will be eligible to practice as an authorised immunisation provider in states and territories that authorise and approve HESA accredited Immunisation courses. It is your responsibility to check the requirements to practice as an independent nurse or midwifery immunisation provider in your state or territory.

You will also be eligible to complete an Optional Clinical Placement (fees apply).

Admission criteria

You must hold current registration to practice as a registered nurse or midwife in Australia and have a current certificate in basic life support.

Entry into this course is by an application and selection process. Your application will be assessed by our team and you will receive an offer with a commencement date if successful (within 2 weeks of applications closing). Payment is not required until you receive and accept an offer.

You will need to upload supporting documents as part of your application:

  1. Current resume
  2. Evidence
    • current registration with AHPRA to practice as a registered nurse or midwife in Australia
    • current basic life support certificate or evidence of completion
    • certified evidence of official name change (if applicable).
