Dalby’s palliative care team was recognised at a state-wide awards ceremony on Sunday 2 December.

The team was named as one of two finalists in the Palliative Care Queensland Awards for the work they do in the Dalby community to help palliative care patients and their loved ones.

Darling Downs Health rural palliative care coordinator Maree Wylie said the award nomination was humbling.

"Our award nomination came from the community," Ms Wylie said.

"It’s wonderful to know that our team has such an impact."

The Dalby Palliative Care team has approximately 10 team members working as community health nurses, in allied health and other support services.

The team works to support people to live well during the end stages of their life in either their home or hospital.

"To work in palliative care, you need to have a passion for it," Ms Wylie said.

"We are a cohesive team that works together to make sure our client is the focus of everything we do."

The team was named a finalist alongside award winners, Home Instead Senior Care of Brisbane.
