An internationally acclaimed parenting program will be offered free to parents, grandparents and carers of children up to 10 years in Cherbourg.
The Circle of Security Parenting Series will be held until 22 March at the Gundoo Day Care Centre, Fisher Street. The one-and-a-half hour sessions will be held each Thursday from 9.30am.
Cherbourg Community Health early intervention and parenting clinician Arvind Ponnapalli said the program had received such positive feedback from previous participants, it was decided to run another series.
“Sometimes parents feel lost or without a clue about what their children may need from them,” Mr Ponnapalli said.
“This program is aimed at giving care givers the skills to make sense of what their child is really asking of them. It is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened.”
Cherbourg grandmother Lorraine Murray attended last year’s program in support of her granddaughter, Shanice Twaddle.
“I liked the program and learnt a lot,” Ms Twaddle said.

Note: Day care options are available to parents with children aged under six years at the Gundoo Day Care Centre for the duration of the program. Day care will incur a fee.
