Construction of the Kingaroy Hospital redevelopment project has hit another important milestone with the successful construction tender contractor announced today as Broad Construction Services.

From a large open market tender process, seven potential construction companies were short-listed and Broad Construction Services was chosen to build the new hospital.

Broad Construction Services is a contractor with extensive experience in the sustainable development of major community facilities.

Broad Construction Services has a strong focus on basing themselves in the community and will be setting up a local satellite office for ease of consultation throughout the build.

It has also committed to having its key personnel relocate and live in Kingaroy for the project duration, and will use local sub-contractors where possible to contribute to this region-shaping project.

Darling Downs Health Board Chair Mr Mike Horan AM thanked the Kingaroy Hospital staff for their input into making sure the facility would continue to meet the needs of the ever-growing community.

“Our staff, both at the Kingaroy Hospital and working in our Infrastructure Division, are to be commended for their work so far on the project and for ensuring that the early construction works have had minimal or no impact on people accessing services at the hospital,” Mr Horan said.

“We will continue to provide updates as the project meets its milestones,” he said.

“This is a community facility and we want to make sure it will continue to meet the growing needs of the South Burnett into the future.”

Construction is set to commence in July 2019 with the project expected to be finalised in 2021.
