Mental health service provider Floresco celebrated one year of caring for the Toowoomba community today, with a special morning tea for staff, clients, carers, family and friends.

Floresco Toowoomba launched in October 2017 with the support of Darling Downs Health, Aftercare, Darling Downs and West Moreton Primary Health Network, and Queensland Health’s Health Improvement Unit.

Darling Downs Health Executive Director Mental Health Greg Neilson said the work done by Floresco Toowoomba was very positive and something the local community should be proud of.

"Darling Downs Health initially contributed $450,000 in funding for Floresco Toowoomba to help address the gap in integrated mental health facilities for adults in our region," Mr Neilson said.

"It has helped to streamline the process from referral to diagnosis and provided greater access to a multi-disciplinary team of mental health professionals.

"Through the provision of options for care and assistance to access non-clinical services, Floresco has complemented the mental health services delivered at our emergency departments and hospitals."

Floresco Toowoomba Service Manager Leah Chrisite said the organisation has provided a ‘one-stop-shop’ to support people living with mental health issues through an integrated care coordination model.

"In our first year of operation we have established a hub for the provision of primary care, allied health, carer support, drug and alcohol services, employment services and community groups, with a focus on mental health and wellbeing," Ms Christie said.

"We have had a very busy year, receiving almost 750 referrals, which is a tremendous result," she said.

"We are very pleased to celebrate our first year of providing our services locally and look forward to continuing to support the Toowoomba community into the future."

Aftercare Chief Executive Officer Dr Andrew Young said Floresco took a comprehensive, holistic approach incorporating mental health, physical health and social and economic needs. Page 2 of 2

"The aim is to make it easier for service users to access the full range of services they need in one place," he said.

"Aftercare is delighted to be partnering with the Queensland Government and Darling Downs Health to deliver this innovative model of care for the people of Toowoomba
